The Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) have mobilized its fighters for a reprisal attack on the Boko Haram faction.
This is according to security analysis and counter insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama in a post on his X account.
“The Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) have mobilised hundreds of fighters in their base in Bakassi, Southern Lake Chad Region, Bama Local Government Area (LGA) led by two Commanders, Alhaji Khud’da and Mallam Akilu in preparation for reprisals with the Boko Haram faction,” Makama said.
“The mobilization which began on Monday, August 12, 2024 involved the movement of fighters by night to avoid detection by JAS spies.”
Makama said reports indicate that five armed water vessels, each carrying 13 fighters and food supplies have been deployed to sustain the battle.
He said the terrorists are believed to be following river paths from Bakassi-Burundi-Filin A’Uzo-Bindi Kare-Dadin Kowa-Dabar Wanzam to the Umbrella area where they plan to launch attacks against the Buduma fighters.
Makama said this rivalry clash is expected to intensify within the next 48 hours, possibly until over the weekend.
According to the security expert, the situation remains volatile with both factions vying for control in the Lake Chad region.
