FUNAAB expresses sorrow over student’s murder, seeks justice

FUNAAB has expressed sorrow over the murder of its student, Christianah Idowu

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has expressed sorrow over the kidnap and murder of a student of the institution, Christianah Idowu.

FUNAAB in a statement released on Friday said it also seeks justice for the 300-level Pure and Applied Botany student who met her untimely death in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The university in the statement signed by its spokesman, Olasunkanmi Olajide condemned the heinous act and called on security authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The management of the university also sent a delegation to pay a visit to the Idowu family to offer their condolences and support.

“It is with profound sorrow that the Management of FUNAAB commiserates with the family, friends, and entire student body on the tragic loss of Miss Christianah Idowu,” the statement read.

“Her abduction and murder have left us heartbroken, and the entire FUNAAB community mourns her passing.

“We call on the Nigeria Police Force to expedite their investigation and ensure that justice is served swiftly. This act of violence must not go unanswered.”

A delegation led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi and Student Union President, Comrade Ibraheem Adeyemi visited the Idowu family on Friday to express their sympathies and support.

The Lagos State Police Command in a statement signed by the spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin reported that a 23-year-old suspect, Ayomide Adeleye believed to have kidnapped and killed Idowu is now in custody.
