Edo Election: Police arrest two, recover firearms, warn trouble makers

The Police has arrested two political thugs ahead of the governorship election in Edo State

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of two political thugs and recovered firearms from them ahead of the governorship election which is taking place in Edo State today.

The spokesman of the Nigeria Police, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed their arrest in a post on X in the early hours of Saturday.

“The Nigeria Police Force has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to curb electoral violence in Edo State with the arrest of two political thugs,” Adejobi said.

“The thugs are namely: Edwin Obanor, 43-year-old and Audu Tajudeen, a 41-year-old PDP member from Ugbogbo quarters, Igara Akoko, Edo.”

Adejobi said the police arrested the two persons during an overnight raid and vowed to deal with illegal arms bearers and trouble makers who plan to disrupt the gubernatorial election in Edo State.
