Abia University suspends lecturer harassing female student in viral video

Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu has suspended a lecturer who was seen harassing a female student in a hotel room in a viral video circulating the internet.

The University announced the suspension of Dr. Udochukwu Ndukwe of the Department of Mass Communication in a circular dated Tuesday, July 30, 2024 and signed by the institution’s Registrar, Dr. Acho Elendu.

The circular with Reference number: ABSU/REG/113/71 was also addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University, Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbults.

“Following the disturbing online video clip involving you, trending on social media, which has brought embarrassment to Abia State University, the Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the Governing Authorities, has approved your immediate suspension from duty for thee (3) months, in the first Instance, with half salary,” Elendu said.

“This is in line with the University’s conditions of service, pending the conclusion of investigation, for which a panel has been set up.

“You, Dr. Udochukwu Ndukwe of the Department of Mass Communication, are to hand over any University property in your possession to your Head of Department (HOD).

“By this notice, all relevant authorities of the University are to note, for strict compliance.”
