Nigerian musician Tems has unveiled her debut album, Born in the Wild. Released on June 7, 2024, this album signifies a new chapter in her rapidly growing career.
Born in the Wild is a rich musical offering featuring 18 tracks, including two interludes. Tems collaborated with Afrobeats star Asake and Grammy-winning American rapper J Cole on this album. It also includes two of her hit singles, “Love Me JeJe” and “Me & U.” “Love Me JeJe” was first introduced to fans during her Coachella performance in April.
Both singles have made significant impacts on the charts. “Love Me JeJe,” a fresh rendition of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 hit, climbed to No. 4 on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart and No. 9 on the Hot R&B Songs chart. “Me & U” reached No. 3 on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart and No. 27 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, and it won the Outstanding International Song award at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.
Next up for Tems is a world tour beginning next week. Special guests Naomi Sharon and Lekan will join her across Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia, with performances in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney scheduled for November. Born in the Wild is now available on all streaming platforms.
Tems has risen to global stardom with numerous extraordinary achievements. She has won several international and local awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for her collaboration with Future on “Wait For U.” She also co-wrote “Lift Me Up,” sung by Rihanna, which received nominations for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards and Golden Globes, and won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
