Kizz Daniel releases 2 new singles, ‘Marhaba’, ‘We Must’

An Afrobeat sensation, Kizz Daniel continues to celebrate a decade of musical excellence with the release of two highly anticipated singles, ‘Marhaba’ and ‘We Must’.

These new tracks were part of the ongoing festivities surrounding his ‘Vado At 10’ anniversary, commemorating ten years of groundbreaking hits, global recognition, and unwavering fan support.

Christian Agadibe, the Chief Executive Officer of Artmatazz Media, a media company to the superstar, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Thursday.

Agadibe said ‘Marhaba’, produced by the gifted dyad, Ramii and Suhel Nafar, combines Kizz Daniel’s signature sound with fresh, innovative beats, blending Afrobeats with Northern African traditional music influences.

He said the track promised to resonate with fans both at home and globally, adding another layer to his rich musical portfolio.

He explained that the Arabic word ‘Marhaba,’ which translates to ‘Welcome or hello’ in English, was one of the most widely used expressions in Northern Africa and the Middle East.

“It deeply resonated with Kizz Daniel during his short but memorable time there and served as a major influence in the creation of the song.

“This, not only showcases Kizz Daniel’s ability to create music that cuts across several continents and cultures, but also highlights his unique talent in uniting diverse audiences.

“By weaving global influences into his sound, Kizz Daniel continues to elevate Afrobeats on the world stage, bridging the gap between nations through the universal language of music,” Agadibe said.

The CEO explained that ‘We Must’, produced by the acclaimed Ayzed, known for his successful collaborations with Kizz Daniel and prolific Nigerian producer, Blaisebeats, was a song sure on its way to become a household anthem that speaks to resilience and determination.

“The song’s rhythmic energy and inspiring lyrics make it a standout moment in Kizz Daniel’s anniversary celebrations, capturing the essence of his decade-long journey in the music industry.

“Originally envisioning a collaboration with a top UK rapper to infuse a gritty grime vibe into the track, delays in receiving the verse led him to take matters into his own hands.

Rather than waiting, Kizz Daniel decided to step into the grime genre himself, delivering the verse and turning the song into a solo effort,” he stressed.

He added, “This bold move inspired the track’s unique credit: ‘We Must’ – Kizz Daniel featuring Thyself. It highlights his versatility and determination to push creative boundaries while staying true to his vision.

“These new releases further solidify Kizz Daniel as one of Afrobeats’ most influential artists, adding depth to his already celebrated catalog.

“Both tracks showcase his versatility and ability to evolve while staying true to his signature sound.

“With ‘Marhaba’ and ‘We Must’, Kizz Daniel not only delivers hit-worthy singles but also redefines his legacy, proving his consistency and adaptability over the last decade.

“As he continues to release groundbreaking music, these songs stand as a testament to his artistic growth and enduring relevance in the global music scene.

“With each release, Kizz Daniel sets a new standard in Afrobeats, inspiring both his peers and upcoming artists alike,” Agadibe added.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs sued for alleged 2001 rape

A woman who alleges Sean “Diddy” Combs drugged and violently raped her, filming the assault so he could sell it for the titillation of others, said Tuesday she was suing the rapper.

Thalia Graves held a tearful press conference in Los Angeles, in which she said the emotional and mental pain from the 2001 attack remains with her.

The 54-year-old Combs was indicted last week on three criminal counts that allege he sexually abused women and coerced them into drug-fueled sex parties using threats and violence.

A spate of separate lawsuits, now including Graves’s, in the last year have painted the picture of a serial predator, sparking a massive fall from grace for the hip hop star.

Attorney Gloria Allred L listens to Thalia Graves an alleged victim of Rap mogul Sean Diddy Combs during a press conference in Los Angeles on September 24 2024 Graves is suing Combs for rape Combs is imprisoned pending trial on racketeering and sex trafficking charges after Judge Andrew Carter upheld a ruling on Septemebr 18 that the bail package proposed by his defense team was insufficient given his history of violence and substance abuse and the possibility of witness tampering Photo by Frederic J Brown AFP

“It goes beyond just physical harm caused by and during the assault. It’s a pain that reaches into your very core of who you are, and leaves emotional scars that will never be fully healed,” she told reporters.

“I’ve had PTSD, depression and anxiety. I’m emotionally scarred. It has been hard for me to trust others, to form healthy relationships, or even feel safe in my own skin.

“Flashbacks, nightmares and intrusive thoughts make me feel like it’s a constant struggle.”

In the criminal case, Combs is charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transporting victims across state lines to engage in prostitution.

Prosecutors say Combs was the don of a criminal enterprise that ensnared women and forced them to commit sex acts under the threat of violence, financial insecurity and reputational ruin.

– Mounting lawsuits –

Allegations have been building against Combs since last year, when singer Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, alleged Combs subjected her to more than a decade of coercion by physical force and drugs as well as a 2018 rape.

A spate of similarly lurid lawsuits since describe Combs as a violent man who used his celebrity to prey on women.

Combs has pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges. He has been jailed awaiting trial.

Graves’ lawyer, Gloria Allred, said her client’s claims were not part of the criminal indictment.

Graves’ suit, filed in the Southern District of New York, says she met the rapper through her then-boyfriend, who worked at Combs’s Bad Boy Records.

It details how Combs took her to his studio, giving her a glass of wine along the way that she believes was spiked. She says she lost consciousness shortly after arriving.

When she woke up, she was naked and bound. But when she called for help, Combs’ associate Joseph Sherman smashed her head into a pool table.

Combs and Sherman then raped her and she passed out again.

The suit says the two men repeatedly warned her over the following years not to talk about the alleged assault.

After Combs’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Venture went public with allegations about his criminal behavior last year, Graves discovered her assault had been taped and sold as pornography.

The legal action demands compensatory and punitive damages, as well as other costs and fees.

Bobrisky speaks on bribing EFCC with N15 million naira

Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has refuted allegations of bribing Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials with N15 million.

The allegations surfaced after popular influencer Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, released a voice recording allegedly featuring Bobrisky claiming to have bribed EFCC officers to drop money laundering charges against him.

In the recording, Bobrisky allegedly stated that the N15 million bribe ensured he avoided prison despite a six-month jail sentence handed down in April 2024 for naira mutilation.

He also purportedly claimed his godfather arranged for him to serve his sentence in a lodge rather than a prison.

However, Bobrisky has strongly denied these claims, calling the recording fake. In an Instagram post, he clarified: “I did not pay any money to the EFCC. It’s all lies. I served my prison term in full.

Please disregard any false information.”

Why romance is important in marriage — Pastor Adeboye

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has stressed the vital role of romance in marriage, urging couples not to neglect this aspect of their relationships.

In a recent Facebook post, Adeboye noted that being a Christian does not diminish the need for romance, referencing biblical figures like Isaac and Rebekah.

He stated, “The fact that you are a Christian does not in any way take romance out of your marriage. Marriage is the only institution where romance and intimacy is allowed between a man and a woman.”

He criticised some pastors who, in their focus on spiritual matters, often neglect to date their spouses.

“Some pastors hardly go on dates with their spouses because they consider such a romantic activity as a distraction from their focus on spiritual matters. The anointing does not reduce the need for romance in marriage,” he said.

Citing Genesis 26:8, Adeboye noted that even Isaac, an anointed man of God, engaged in romance: “The Bible says he was sporting with Rebekah his wife. Don’t become too rigid in your marriage; don’t have more fun elsewhere without your spouse.”

He encouraged couples to recreate the excitement of their early relationship, advising them to “make the times that you and your spouse spend together so much fun that you are always looking forward to seeing each other again.”

“Revive that relationship again,” he urged. “Your spouse is still the same person you were very fond of, and the things you loved in him or her are still there. Don’t let all the cares of this life distract you from the gems in your spouse.”

Adeboye also suggested creative romantic gestures, such as composing poems or leaving surprise notes for each other. “Have a pet name that you call each other behind closed doors,” he added. “Your marriage can be like heaven on earth if you and your spouse are deliberate about remaining the lovebirds you were when you first got married. Don’t let the romance die.”

His full post read: “Adeboye who took to his Facebook page on Friday, wrote; “The fact that you are a Christian does not in any way take romance out of your marriage. Marriage is the only institution where romance and intimacy is allowed between a man and a woman.

“Some pastors hardly go on dates with their spouses because they consider such a romantic activity as a distraction from their focus on spiritual matters. Some of them don’t even play with their spouses anymore. Beloved, the anointing does not reduce the need for romance in marriage.

“Isaac was an anointed man of God and a successful businessman, yet in Genesis 26:8, the Bible says he was being romantic with his wife: And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife. Don’t become too rigid in your marriage; don’t have more fun elsewhere without your spouse.

“Make the times that you and your spouse spend together so much fun that you are always looking forward to seeing each other again. If you are married, remember how you used to talk for long hours with your spouse before you got married and had children; revive that relationship again. Your spouse is still the same fellow you were very fond of, and the things you loved in him or her are still there. Don’t let all the cares of this life distract you from the gems in your spouse.

“Once in a while, compose a poem for your spouse and read it to him or her in a romantic setting. Spice things up with pleasant surprises every now and then. Write a note and put it in his or her bag so that when they get to the office and open their bag, they will see the note and smile. Have a pet name that you call each other behind closed doors.

“Up until today, there is a pet name my wife calls me when we are alone. I equally have a pet name that I call her, and every time I call her by that name, she cannot but smile at me lovingly. When we are alone, we are lovers, not Daddy GO and Mummy GO. Your marriage can be like heaven on earth if you and your spouse are deliberate about remaining the lovebirds that you were when you first got married. Don’t let the romance die.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs to plead not guilty to racketeering, sex trafficking

Sean “Diddy” Combs will plead not guilty on Tuesday to racketeering and sex trafficking charges, his lawyer said ahead of a court appearance by the superstar rapper.

Combs, 54, was arrested on Monday by federal agents acting on a sealed indictment filed by the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

He is to be arraigned at a Manhattan courthouse and the indictment unsealed.

Combs’s lawyer,  Marc Agnifilo, told reporters he already knows what the charges are going to be.

“It’s going to be racketeering. It’s going to be sex trafficking,” he said. “And he’s not guilty. He’s innocent of these charges.”

Agnifilo added that the music mogul’s “spirits are good.”

“He’s going to fight this with all of his energy and all of his might,” he said.

Combs is the target of several civil lawsuits that characterize him as a violent sexual predator who used alcohol and drugs to subdue his victims.

The rapper’s luxury homes in Miami and Los Angeles were raided by agents in March in a heavily publicized bicoastal operation that indicated a federal investigation and potential criminal case was mounting against Combs.

– Bombshell suit –

The powerful music industry figure, who has gone by various monikers including Puff Daddy and P Diddy, was credited as being key to hip hop’s journey from the streets to luxury clubs.

He has amassed vast wealth over the decades, not least due to his ventures in the liquor industry.

Despite his efforts to cultivate the image of a smooth party kingpin and business magnate, a spate of lawsuits describe Combs as a violent man who used his celebrity to prey on women.

Combs has no major convictions but has long been trailed by allegations of physical assault, dating back to the 1990s.

The floodgates opened last year after singer Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, alleged Combs subjected her to more than a decade of coercion by physical force and drugs as well as a 2018 rape.

The pair met when Ventura was 19 and Combs was 37, after which he signed her to his label and they began a relationship.

The bombshell suit was settled out of court but a string of similarly lurid sexual assault claims followed — including one in December by a woman who alleged Combs and others gang-raped her when she was 17.

Disturbing surveillance video then emerged in May showing Combs physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Ventura, corroborating allegations she made in the now-settled case.

– Global fame with dark shadow –

Born Sean John Combs on November 4, 1969, in Harlem, the artist entered the industry as an intern in 1990 at Uptown Records, where he eventually became a talent director.

He gained a reputation as a party planner, which would be central to his brand as his fame rose.

In 1991 he promoted a celebrity basketball game and concert at the City College of New York that left nine people dead after a stampede.

The event was over capacity by thousands and resulted in a string of lawsuits, with Combs blamed for hiring inadequate security.

He was fired from Uptown and founded his own label, Bad Boy Records.

That began a quick ascent to the top of East Coast hip hop, along with his disciple, the late The Notorious B.I.G.

Combs boasted a number of major signed acts and production collaborations with the likes of Mary J Blige, Usher, Lil’ Kim, TLC, Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men.

He was also a Grammy-winning rapper in his own right, debuting with the chart-topping single “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down” and his album “No Way Out.”

With an unapologetic swagger, he also ventured into Hollywood, reality television and fashion and had high-profile romantic links with the likes of Jennifer Lopez.
