The University of Benin has appointed a professor of Constitutional Law and Governance, Edoba Omoregie as the new Vice-Chancellor of the university.
Prof. Shaibu Umaru, Chairman of the Governing Council of the university announced the appointment on Friday in Benin.
Umaru said Omoregie emerged as the 11th vice-chancellor of the university out of the 27 that applied for the coveted seat.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new vice-chancellor, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), would take over from the incumbent, Prof. Lillian Salami whose tenure ends on Dec 1.
Born on April 5, 1969, Prof. Omoregie is a native of Benin and attended the University of Benin for his first, second and third degrees l
He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 and conferred with the prestigious Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2021.
