Independent marketers have propelled over 25 million litres of Automotive Gas Oil, commonly known as diesel, from the illustrious Dangote Petroleum Refinery into the market in less than three months since the plant commenced AGO production.
On Saturday, it emerged that the registration of oil marketers with this $20 billion behemoth was still in full swing. Eager dealers are lining up to register with the refinery in anticipation of its imminent launch of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, slated for the domestic market in July.
These marketers are poised and ready to commence the distribution of PMS from the state-of-the-art facility.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), and Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) have all affirmed that their members are actively registering with the Lagos-based refinery.
They also confirmed the ongoing extraction of diesel from the plant, which has not only stabilised the price of the commodity but also ensured its consistent supply since production kicked off in March this year.
Remarkably, the price of diesel has plummeted from about N1,800 per litre to N1,200 per litre following the introduction of Dangote refinery’s product into the Nigerian market in late March 2024. This significant reduction has ensured the product’s availability nationwide.
Reactions to 25 Million Litres of Dangote Diesel Rollout
Commenting on the newfound stability in diesel pricing and supply, as well as the enthusiastic registration of marketers with the refinery, Chief Ukadike Chinedu, the National Public Relations Officer of IPMAN, shared with our correspondent that over 25 million litres of AGO from the plant have been distributed by IPMAN members across the nation.
“Independent marketers are eagerly registering with Dangote, and a substantial volume of product has already been lifted from Dangote’s depot. I am aware of numerous marketers who have completed their registration with the Dangote refinery.
“I can also confirm that independent marketers have loaded over 25 million liters of diesel since the refinery began its domestic sales to downstream oil sector operators in Nigeria,” Ukadike stated with palpable enthusiasm.
